Renewal in Cheek

The soffit and fascia crew finished up the work on Miss Louanna's house on Monday.

One of the traditions from last winter's crew was to have "Faspa" outdoors after work. This was the first week of nice weather for such an activity.

Annette joined Linda on the painting team for several days in Mr. John's house. The royal purple paint was mixed by Linda from bright pink and dark blue colors found in the SETIO warehouse. This way they were able to use donated paint.

In three days Pete and Jim repaired and installed new soffit and fascia on Mr. John's house.

Friday was a beautiful day for a hiking and birding outing. The Kirby Nature Trail is 30 miles north of Beaumont in the Pineywoods region of east Texas.

Annette was intrigued by the resurrection fern growing on the bark of trees. Upon research we found that this fern goes dormant with lack of moisture and can go 100 years without water and still revive after a single soaking.
We hope our work in Cheek also brings renewal to the people receiving help as rain brings life to the resurrection fern.
