Summer has been busy with gardening, apartment maintenance, camping, helping with a variety of projects for our kids and a wonderful cottage weekend of family time. We also enjoyed having our grandsons at our place for a week.
With the leaves changing color and falling our thoughts turn to leaving home and volunteering. We applied with SOOP to go to Tucson, Arizona but soon realized we should have applied in June to find a place in the deep south.
Since then we have received an invitation and have accepted to help out with Mennonite Disaster Service in Pensacola, FL. At the end of April/2014 the area received 22 inches of rain in one day causing extensive flooding.
Preparations at home are going well. Most of the garden is cleaned out, tomato soup, salsa and pizza sauce made, garlic planted and the packing and prep lists are getting shorter. We plan to be on the road in early October and arrive at our site on October 11th. This will allow for some relaxed meandering for our travels.
We are grateful for the opportunity we have to travel and be of service to the people in need in Pensacola and hope our deeds will touch their lives. We know that they will touch our lives. Follow and see what our new experience will bring.

One of our activities with Ajay and Maddox was bottle rocket launching.
The home made ice cream sandwiches were a great treat on a warm summer day.
Oma having story time with Amara while the others play scrabble as camping activity.
Bubble blowing was a hit on the cottage weekend.
Maddox is getting the hang of it. Thanks to Uncle Matt for this fun time.
