We started the week by visiting The Mini Time Machine Museum Of Miniatures on Sunday afternoon. This place has over 300 miniature houses and room boxes displayed. This museum has a collection of antique doll houses dating to 1742 and contemporary fine-scale miniatures.
Oriental Floating Garden (click on the photo to see it enlarged for detail)
Butcher Shop and Market built inside an ice box.
Enjoy the humor of dogs around the card table.
Many of the miniatures are built in 1/12th scale. We enjoyed seeing the artisans creativity of these miniatures.
This is the Food Banks registration area where clients check in before receiving their food cart.
Annette prepared for action minutes before the 9 o'clock door opening.
At the Food Bank the food handed out can vary depending on what is donated. A typical cart of groceries is a bag of dry or canned products, a container of juice, a bag of citrus (in season), a bag of greens, sometimes a watermelon and 2 to 3 bread products. For an incentive to return the cart from the parking lot they receive a sweet treat.
Wednesday each of the days volunteers received a sweat shirt with this imprint.
Thursday at the Food Bank was a bit of a tense day for the people in charge because they had the auditors doing inspections of the place. Passing this annual review by the "Feed America" organization is critical for their next years funding.
On Wednesday night we went out for Mexican food at Poco & Mom's Cantina with Peter and Viola and Ernie and Leona from Winnipeg. Had a great time getting to know each other.
Annette's choice was the Best of Mexico Combination Plate. Green chili chicken enchilada, chili releno topped with sour cream, red chili shredded beef taco, rice and beans.
Jim chose the Stuffed Sopapilla with chicken rice and beans.
