Our Last Week of Service in Pensacola

We recall last Sunday afternoon as a wonderfully pleasant Advent Sunday so we explored the nearby Big Lagoon State Park after church. The observation tower at the East Beach provided a great view of the park and the Intracoastal Waterway. Several boardwalks make great access for viewing water fowl in the lagoon and pond.

The great weather this week allowed us to enjoy all our breaks outside.

Having a smaller team we were all assigned to Mr. Bill's home. The push was to get the home functional so the homeowner could return from the motel he was living in temporarily. Some of us mudded, some sanded and Jim was getting ready to texture this home. He completed that in two days after which he and Keith went to texture a house for the "Nomads" who did not have a sprayer. After the texturing at Mr. Bill's, Doreen, Eva, Carol and I primed and painted the finish coat. The place was very busy - doors were hung, base boards cut and nailed, tile floors laid all while we were still painting walls.

Thursday at the end of the day John, KJ and Lynn of the Florida Recovery Team brought us a Dunkin Donuts ice cream cake for snack as another thank you. More hugs and good-byes.

This plaque was received last week at the house blessing of Mr. Frank and Ms. Mary.

The time has come for our team to depart and go home for Christmas to see family and friends. Again a memorable time to make new friends and renew friendships with ones we had worked with before.

This trip home is a bit of a test for us in that we will leave our RV here in Florida then drive to Sanford Orlando to catch a direct flight to Grand Forks and have someone pick us up for the ride home. We will take a blogging break for Christmas.
