Jim's work this week. He joined the crew of men with work in the Cedar motel unit. All eight units had issues with the
drywall seams showing/cracking on the ceilings. After numerous suggestions it was decided to mount 1x4 boards around the
room and over each of the cross seams. The process was begun by first painting the ceilings, then screwing the boards to
the ceiling, patching the screw holes and chaulking all edges followed by painting the boards. After cleanup, the furniture
and beds were moved back into place. All the work got done in time for the busy upcoming weekend.

Annette started her work Monday by working with two teams of 2 ladies wiping down mattresses and vacuuming bunk beds in
eight cabins. Each cabin having at least 10 beds. On Tuesday after finishing at the cabins, Sue and I washed the dining
hall windows. On Wednesday the temperatures were at the freezing mark, but by 10 we were told to go ahead and paint the
shuffleboard benches, which we did. It was COLD but by noon it was 10 degrees C. We hope the paint will stay on. On
Thursday Betty, Sue and I cleaned the camp store and then later tackled cleaning Magnolia (a meeting room) by wiping
baseboards, sweeping and mopping the ceramic tile floors. After this was completed we joined Phyllis who was working in
Pine Cone (another meeting room) where we cleaned chairs, swept and mopped floors.
On Saturday we went to Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, one of Florida's original roadside attractions. Here we saw five of these creatures. Manatee are large grey aquatic mammals that are found in Florida in winter seeking out the 74 F degree spring water.
We took in two
Mermaid shows (The Little Mermaid and Fish Tails). Fish Tails was a live underwater performance that demonstrated how the
mermaids have been entertaining visitors for over 60 years.
This 400 seat theatre is submerged 16 feet into the limestone cavern side. Weeki Wachee Springs is a 100 foot wide natural
spring that has 170 million gallons of water flow from its caverns daily.
One of the six mermaids came to pose for photos.
