A Time for Giving Thanks - Week 7
Just a mile down the road from our MDS camp is a small citrus grove from where we have eaten Satsuma oranges for the last month and a half. We chose to pick the last bag ourselves to get the experience. This farmer planted these trees as his retirement hobby and now had his daughter selling the crop. She gave us snips and showed us which were the best ones to pick. They are very sweet and tasty and only cost 50 cents per pound.
Thursday was Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. and since we had missed celebrating the Canadian one it was good to get together for a wonderful supper. The ladies did a super job preparing these dishes in their limited RV kitchens. We took time to share what we were thankful for and also played a get acquainted game to get to know each other better.
Another chapter in the sugar cane story. We came across another processing plant that had a barge being loaded with raw sugar which will be shipped to another location like Baton Rouge or New Orleans for further processing.
Jim posing in front of a cane harvestor that was parked next to our camp. The farmers use several different machines for cutting the cane in the fields.
These monster and dinosaur machine pictures are taken especially for grandsons Ajay and Maddox. Opa hopes you like them.

Ajay and Maddox think the bottom picture is a crocodile. The oranges look really good. Maddox likes the machine that cuts the sugar cane.
