We extended our stay at Lakewood Retreat for a few days so that we could meet with our friends, Elmer and Laureen and show them around the camp. We left Tuesday morning and spent three days at Falling Waters State Park west of Tallahassee. We again enjoyed relaxing and exploring another new place that shows God's amazing creation.
Friday was our planned travel day to Cordova Alabama. Our trip went well considering the busy intersate traffic and seeing a van ahead of us having a rear tire blowout. We arrived at Sleepy Holler Campground at around four o'clock and were greeted by Don and Charlotte. Because we did not have internet the last days and had not checked our phone for messages we were unaware of the storms brewing around us. We had just enough time to set up our RV and gather a few valuables before we were taken to the upper level campground where there is a storm shelter. Our group spent a few hours in the other MDS office trailer listening to the weather radio, playing games and snacking. As imminent danger passed we returned to our lower level campground where we waited, watched the weather on TV and listened for more weather alerts on the radio. By midnight things had settled down and we went to bed. The temperatures dropped 20 degrees F. overnight as the cold front moved through.
