New Worksite in Pascagula, Mississippi
It's Saturday morning as we are working on our blog post for this week, while having an open ear to our weather radio because we know we are under a tornado watch. That's not a comforting feeling while living in an RV. A cold front moving in is causing this unstable weather condition.
Last Saturday we checked out a Garden and Patio Show in Biloxi, hoping to find some ideas for our yard. Instead it was largely a big plant sale and other products. This company was showing their outdoor room possibilities, which were not in our budget.
A feature of the show was for the public to judge potted displays made by participating vendors. Of the twelve displays this was our favorite. This grouping of succulents could do well in our front yard during the hot summer months. We will have to shop at home because we can't bring plants across the border.
This nice little home has been constructed to this point by an Amish MDS group based out of Gulfport. This week we were assigned to put down the concrete board and ceramic floor tile in the laundry, kitchen and bathroom. Ms Treena, the homeowner is showing her excitement as she comes by each day after her work at the local school cafeteria to see the progress made. She had been told her home would be completed three weeks ago. It will be a while yet before its done.
This has been a new experience for us, which required a bit of study first. While Jim measured and cut the concrete board, Annette predrilled and nailed it down. She found using the palm nailer easier than a hammer. I wanted to include a video clip complete with sound effects but the file is really big.
After the first room Annette took on the job of laying the tile while Jim did the cutting and spreading the thinset adhesive. A day after setting the tile we applied the grout.
At the same house Jake and Verna installed laminate flooring in the remainder of the rooms. Verna is not just watching, but is holding the board while Jake hammers it into place. She also cuts boards to length on the chop saw as needed.
